Co-urbanism 2017
Autorius: Laimikis.lt
Reserve April 7, 2o17 for the annual Co-urbanism event in Vilnius!
The event brings together urbanists, placemakers and cultural innovators, active in the Baltic Sea region, alongside with urban and cultural strategists, for sharing their approaches and cases in participatory urban development. How do we develop local networks? What tools do we apply to gain and share new knowledge about our cities and neighbourhoods? What creative formats do we use to bring people together? How co-design initiatives contribute to the growth of trust in the neighbourhoods and safety in public spaces? Being run for 3rd time, Co-urbanism aims to map current challenges and tendencies in placemaking in Lithuania and in the Baltic Sea region. Follow Co-urbanism 2017 facebook event and Laimikis fb page to learn more about Co-urbanism speakers and their topics!

FB page & event: URBINGO
Šnipiškės is a historical neighbourhood in the center of Vilnius (Lithuania) that faced a rapid redevelopment pressure in last decades. An unique architecture contrast between the inhabited wooden houses of 19th century and modern skyscrapers is one of the unique traits of this place. Seeking to engage the local community in the place-making and decision-making, to reconfigure a negative image of the neighbourhood, to reveal its cultural values and historical background, Laimikis team has developed participatory tools in 2012-2015. Urbingo is one of them.
URBINGO is an urban orientation game and alternative guide to the changing neighbourhoods. Build your team or take part in the game individually. Choose your cards and explore the neighbourhood! Return to the starting point at the agreed time.
This game was developed by Laimikis.lt as a matrix for collecting and arranging neighbourhood stories and changing material culture, turning it into actively used archive. It is a tool for activating the interest in the rapidly changing neighbourhoods and their stories, and encouraging citizen participation in gathering the valuable empirical data on the material culture of the changing neighbourhood. Special editions of the game are created for several European cities, but the version for Šnipiškės was the first one. Laimikis.lt urban co-design group (c).
