Co-urbanism 2020 | Vilnius Urban Lab

The topic of this Co-urbanism event is “Cooperative Development of Urban Spaces”. We invite to explore how cultural initiatives improve neighbourhoods, how to implement and sustain cooperative initiatives, how to maintain open cultural spaces, and how to manage local resources. This is a great chance to exchange knowledge with practitioners and decision-makers cooperating with urban communities, strengthening participatory urban culture in the Baltic Sea Region. We arranged it as an online Vilnius Urban Lab because of the lockdown restrictions, and more than 180 participants from the Baltic Sea regions took part in it.

Co-urbanism brings together urban practitioners, researchers, community leaders, community artists, and policymakers to share methods and practices in the cooperative cultural development of urban spaces.  In 2020 it was arranged in cooperation with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Faculty of Creative Industries; it is one of Urban Labs that are set across the Baltic Sea Region in 2019-2021 as a part of Urban Cultural Planning project (Cultural Planning as a Methods of Urban Social Innovation).
