While arranging a contest for reconstruction of one of the central square in Vilnius, the Ministry of Culture (Lithuania) deprived citizens from participating in decision making process. As it was announced by the official representative of the Ministry, citizens ae not competent to decide how urban public places are going to be rearranged, “as a society in Vilnius is not homogeneous”. A week ago we have initiated a micro-protest, which aims to provide citizens with a tool for participation and discussion the plans for reconstruction of one of the central squares in Vilnius (Lithuania), Lukiškių sq.

Liepos 1 d. ekspertų grupė paskelbs Lukiškių a. monumento konkurso nugalėtoją. Anksčiau paskubomis jau buvo išrinktas architektūrinio konkurso nugalėtojas, kuris pasiūlė Lukiškių aikštę išgrįsti, ir tik palikti ir sutankinti medžius aikštės perimetre. Dabar bus išrinktas paminklas, “matomas dieną ir naktį”, kur “integruoti nacionaliniai simboliai ir nežinomojo partizano kapas” (taip nurodyta konkurso sąlygose). Labai abejojame, kad miesto centrą verta paversti gedulo tribūna, jai aukojant rekreacines zonas. Todėl Lukiškių aikštėje jau savaitę vyksta mikro-protestas, kurio dalyviu gali tapti kiekvienas norintis: tereikia sukurti mikro-transparantą, įrengti jį Lukiškių aikštėje ir uždokumentuoti.

Seeking to become “a standart European city” distinctive characters of Vilnius are easily being effaced. It becomes usual to damage the traces of 20 cen. in sake of the imitations of previous times. This time drastical changes took place in a central park, Sereikiškės, more than 200 old trees were cut out in sake of the plan of 18-19 cen., which is supplied with pétanque’s fields and other modern things. In our opinion a brand new project of 18 cen. park was not well-reasoned, as a park of 20 cen. already had playgrounds, carousels, cafes, pond with beautiful fointain and so on. A central park was neglected and playgdounds had to be rennovated, but instead we have got the immitation of 18 cen. without any serious arguments.

Siekdami būti standartišku Europos miestu lengvai atsisakome savo išskirtinių bruožų, vienas iš kurių buvo istoriškai susiformavęs parkas miesto centre. Nejučia virstame Disneylandu su butaforiniais pastatais, atgamintais akvarelių pagrindu, 18 a. parkų imitacijomis, autobusų parkingą primenančia Rotušės aikšte.
